1. Cosmetic Brand Naming
1. Choose a brand name: Must name both Thai and English, such as Bomer / Dior
2. Explain what the brand name represents: Explain its meaning or what it represents, such as an abbreviation of the brand owner's child's name, the brand owner's name, or something else.
3. Choose a cosmetic product name: Names that indicate properties and texture (cream, gel, serum, or others), and may include ingredients in the formula, such as Argan Hair Serum / Whitening Gluta Cream / Perfume, etc.
There are 2 main steps to obtaining Thai FDA notification for cosmetics. They are: 1. First, apply for a manufacturing client code. 2. Then apply for Thai FDA notification. However, customers can now apply directly without first applying for a "manufacturing client code." The factory will apply for a "manufacturing client code" if the customer requests one or if the product is at risk of violatingThai FDA regulations. For example:
Cosmetics for massage
Warming massage balms for relaxation
Cosmetics for intimate areas
Skin care gels that can be used as lubricants
2. Cosmetic FDA Approval and Document Preparation
2.1. Requesting a Manufacturer Code (Optional, processing time 3-7 days)
All customers who wish to register their cosmetics with the Thai FDA must first apply for a manufacturing client code using the documents listed below. If you already have a code, you do not need to apply again; simply provide it to us. Your manufacturing client code is your national ID number or company registration number. Please note that delays in submitting documents will also delay your Thai FDA notification.
Please download these 3 documents and complete all required information.
1. Download the application to add a cosmetics contract manufacturing client
Applying for a contract manufacturing client code costs 2000 baht (1-3 days after receipt of the documents)
Submitting 1 cosmetic product notification to the Thai FDA costs 2000 baht (7-14 days after the client code is issued)

2.2. Requesting FDA Approval and Brand Naming
Rules for naming cosmetic products under Thai FDA regulations
Choose a name that has no meaning in English and conveys beauty in a cosmetic context
You may use a person's name or another name, but you must provide Thai FDA officials with a written explanation of what it conveys and why you chose it
Names must not make exaggerated claims, be offensive, or misrepresent the facts
Names must not create misunderstandings about essential aspects of the cosmetic product
Names must not be inappropriate in the context of Thailand's cultural values or undermine the value of the Thai language
Examples of names that are not accepted for cosmetics
Judo (Judo): The reason given is that it could be misread and suggest sexual connotations.
Hair growth (Hair Go): This means making hair grow, which is not a cosmetic function. According to the officials, the word growth is not permitted.
Varicose veins (Varicose Veins): This refers to varicose veins, so it falls under the category of medicine for treating varicose veins rather than cosmetics.
Medicated balm is classified as medicine, not a cosmetic.
Banana (Banana): This name suggests food rather than cosmetics and can sometimes carry sexual connotations, so it is not accepted.
Approval by the Thai FDA is entirely at the discretion of Thai FDA officials.
